Mr Gillespie (HW)

Narrative structure:

Story- The raw materials of dramatic action as they might be described in chronological order

Plot- How the story is old , the form of story telling or the structure the story follows

Conflict- Can take many forms ; emotional , interpersonal or even between the character & his/her environment

Equilibrium theory :

Equilibrium - Everything is as it should be

Disequilibrium - An event disrupts order

Realisation - recognition of disorder

Attempt to repair disruption

A return to before or the restoration of a new equilibrium

Three Act Structure :
Set up - Exposition
Confrontation - Rising action / crisis
Resolution - Falling action

The film i have selected as a case study is The Lion King.

Equilibrium - Mufasa is king of the Pridelands and lives with Sarabi his wife and also there lion cub called Simba.
Disequilibrium - The murder of Mufasa by his brother Scar which then Scar tells Simba it was all his fault and Simba runs away into the dessert and is found by Timon and Pumbaa and they raise him to be a carnivore like them and his grows in the space of 5 frames and singing 'Hakuna Matata'
Realisation - the realisation is when it flicks to Pridelands when Scar has become king and there is no food for the lionesses or anyone to eat. When Nala comes to hunt and finds Simba and takes him home.
Attempt to repair - is when Simba returns to the Pridelands and fights Scar and tells everyone why he ran away from home because he thought he killed Mufasa and then Scar admits it so they fight and Scar is killed
A new equilibrium - the rein of Simba begins
